Lightning Arrestor/Diverter Kit

An essential part of an electric fence system, the porcelain Lightning Arrestor helps protect electric fence energisers from lightning strike damage.

Run an insulated wire from the live wire of the fence to one terminal of the arrestor, attach another insulated wire to the second terminal on the arrestor and connect that to independent grounding rods spaced 5m apart. Several arrestors are recommended on large fences. Mild hits do not normally hurt the arrestor. If you hear a clicking in the arrestor when the fencer is running, the arrestor needs to be replaced.
